AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY

AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY

Held every winter, the STEPS Grand Winter Ball is one of the Sunshine Coast’s premier black-tie events – a special night of celebration, fine dining, live entertainment, generosity, joy and warmth as the community spirit of our region shines.

The 2023 STEPS Grand Winter Ball is an evening for local people from across the Sunshine Coast and its surrounds to meet, connect and raise funds for STEPS Pathways College.

About STEPS Pathways College

As the first and only boarding college for people with a disability and autism in Australia, STEPS is leading the change to create a new and brighter future for our students, and all young people with a disability and autism throughout the country.

At STEPS Pathways College, students learn true independent living skills through a combination of classroom and community-based training, as well as everyday life skills learned from within their own units on the College campus.

Together, we can ensure young adults with a disability and autism have an abundance of opportunity and are providing hope and aspirations for a better life for our students, their parents, and their families.  Learn more about our College.

PRESENTING PARTNER - PRIMA COMMERCIAL FITOUTS

We’re pleased to announce Prima Commerical Fitouts as this year’s presenting partner of the STEPS Grand Winter Ball.

Prima Commercial Fitouts has been a long-time supporter of STEPS, and their contribution over the years has given many students the opportunity to achieve a life of independence through STEPS Pathways College.

Prima’s director Brendan Wavell-Smith said the years working alongside STEPS on the Sunshine Coast and around the country have given him insight into some of the challenges people with a disability face in daily life.

“It upsets me to see how hard it can be for people with a disability and the limited opportunities available to them”, Brendan said.

“That’s why I’m such a big supporter of STEPS. I have seen firsthand the work they do and the impact it has on their clients and students”.

“I think to a large extent a lot that we take for granted in terms of opportunities to study and opportunities to enter the workplace are denied to people with a disability, and unless that is brought to the fore and unless people have conversations about that, I think it will continue to happen.

“That’s why we think the work that STEPS are doing is phenomenal because it highlights some of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and goes a long way to remedying some of those challenges.”  – Jason Van Der Walt, Managing Director, ION Smart Business Solutions.
